Abstract:
The idea of multiple-agent working and cooperation was inspired by many examples in biology. Nowadays, cooperative controls of infrastructure networks have become research areas with dramatically increased popularity. Synchronization is timekeeping which requires the coordination of events to operate a system in unison. This talk will introduce our recent researches on synchronization control of multi-agent motions to achieve the goal of coordination. The main idea is to control each agent to track along its desired trajectory while synchronizing its motion with the other ones within the networked system to keep relative kinematics relationship as required by coordination. In this talk, I will first pose the motion coordination problem as a synchronization control problem, and define the synchronization error based on the coordination requirement. Then I will introduce a synchronous controller that can guarantee both position and synchronization errors to approach zero asymptotically. Two case studies are reported. One is formation control of swarms of mobile robots to follow time-varying formations, which is followed by industrial applications such as coordination of multirobot manipulators, multi-axis controls and contouring error minimization of CNC machines. The second case study is to use synchronization control approach to transferring multiple biological cells for lots of biomedical applications.
孙东教授简介:
孙东博士,香港城市大学机械与生物医学工程系教授。孙东教授的主要研究方向为机器人系统的控制和操作,以及应用微纳米技术对生物细胞进行精密操作和功能特性分析。孙教授是当今世界上最早应用机器人技术对生物细胞进行微纳米操作和生物力学特性分析的少数几位学术带头人之一。他目前的研究方向集中在结合机器人、光镊和微流体技术对细胞进行微纳米操作从而深入探索单细胞功能。孙教授自2000年加入香港城市大学以来,先后主持完成30多个研究项目,发表2部著作,7个受邀著作章节,在权威期刊和会议发表超过200多篇学术文章,拥有五项专利。多次获得IEEE期刊和会议最佳论文奖,并担任多个国际著名学术期刊的编委。他还积极参与众多工业界活动,包括在香港科技园创办了城动科技(香港)有限公司,并取得了香港工业奖、香港亚洲电子展金奖等多项工业界奖项。孙教授于2007和2008年连续两届当选IEEE香港区机器人、自动化及控制系统联合分会的主席,并参与组织多个大型国际学术会议,被Thompsons列入世界Highly Cited Researcher。
